Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2, 2026

Oakland Residents for Good Government operates www.oakgoodgov.org and its campaign signup and messaging programs. Contact oakgoodgov@gmail.com with privacy questions or requests.

Information we collect and use

Our signup form collects your name, email, optional phone number, interests, endorsement permission, and any optional title, yard-sign address, or notes you provide. We use this information to respond to your requests, coordinate campaign activities, and record your communication preferences. SMS signup records include your phone number, consent choice, and submission timestamp. Messaging services may record delivery, replies, and opt-outs.

We publish an endorser’s name and optional title only with separate permission. Contact details and private form responses are not published as an endorsement list. The form does not collect payment information.

We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in and consent records with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Consent is specific to our messaging program and is not transferred to another organization or campaign.

Authorized campaign workers and service providers may access information only as needed to work on our behalf. Providers handling messaging, form storage, or related support may process necessary information for those services, not their own marketing. We may disclose information when legally required.

Storage, protection, and retention

We use access-restricted accounts and limit access to authorized people who need it. Google hosts our signup form and response storage; texting providers process messaging data under their own service and privacy terms. Embedding Google Forms means your browser connects to Google, which may collect technical information under its policies.

We retain information for as long as needed to fulfill signup requests, administer the campaign, document consent, and meet legal obligations. We retain necessary opt-out records to prevent further messages. No security method can eliminate every risk.

Your choices

SMS consent is optional. Providing a phone number or endorsing the campaign does not itself authorize recurring texts. You may reply STOP to unsubscribe from texts, or reply HELP for support. You can also email oakgoodgov@gmail.com to request access, correction, or deletion of your information. Records required for legal compliance or honoring an opt-out may need to be retained.

Changes

We will post updates here with a revised date. Material changes to messaging purposes require appropriate consent; a policy update does not expand your SMS consent.

Read our SMS Terms and Conditions.
